About Us

TheAVS Constitution is a formal written document detailing the guiding principles of the Association.

AVS is the representational body for all vet students across the UK and Ireland. It is the AVS who speaks on behalf of students to the powers that be in the veterinary world – the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the British Veterinary Association, DEFRA and many more with whom we are closely affiliated. If you want your opinions to be heard on political, educational, welfare or financial issues, then it is the AVS who you need to speak to. You can contact us in different ways; via your AVS reps (look out for them on the AVS notice board, they will probably be around to talk to you in the next few weeks) or via our website where members login allows you to access questionnaires seeking your personal opinion on current issues. You can also raise issues on our Facebook page and seek help from fellow veterinary students.

The AVS also provides you with two of the most historic and great social events of the veterinary student calendar......

AVS Sports weekend - this year to be held in Edinburgh. A lively weekend involving sports, pub crawls and club nights; a one in a million experience that has to be done at least once in your time at vet school.

AVS Congress – a calmer event with a sensational black tie ball on the Saturday night, but also a weekend of interesting lectures, debates and a chance to meet the AVS committee at our AGM. This year it’s held at Bristol, and if you don’t fancy Sports, then this is definitely more up your street.

Look out for AVS as we continue to represent you over the coming year.
